New Enhancements to the CRISP DC Provider Directory
Finding the right provider or facility quickly can make all the difference in care coordination. To support more efficient and equitable access to care, CRISP DC has rolled out several enhancements to the Provider Directory—designed to surface critical information right when you need it.
These updates focus on improving visibility into maternal health resources, patient access, and language support across the District. The CRISP DC Provider Directory's three new enhancements help providers and care teams make more informed, patient-centered decisions.
1. Birthing Hospital Designation
What it does
DC hospital locations that offer birthing services are now clearly flagged directly within the Provider Directory. As part of the District of Columbia's participation in the CMMI Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) Model, CRISP DC is required to display the "birthing-friendly" hospital designation. These hospitals are identified using a web icon logo within the Directory, as shown in the screenshot below.
Why it matters
This enhancement supports maternal health workflows by allowing providers and care coordinators to quickly identify appropriate facilities for prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum coordination—helping ensure patients are connected to the right level of care at the right time.
2. MCOs Accepting New Patients Indicator
What it does
The Provider Directory now displays which Managed Care Organization (MCO) locations are currently accepting new patients. Users can also filter search results based on this indicator.
Why it matters
This update helps reduce referral dead ends and administrative back-and-forth. By clearly identifying providers who are open to accepting new patients, care teams can make faster, more effective referral decisions and improve timely access to care. From a dropdown menu within the Advanced Search field, users may now specify an MCO and whether they are accepting new patients. Providers at the selected MCO will populate in the search results if they meet the criteria, as shown below:
3. Language Filter
What it does
Users can now filter and identify providers and care team members based on supported languages directly within the Provider Directory.
Why it matters
Language access is critical to quality care. This enhancement helps reduce language barriers, improves patient understanding, and supports culturally and linguistically appropriate care—particularly for DC's diverse and underserved populations. Users may now select a preferred language for a provider from within the Advanced Search fields, as shown below:
Take the Next Step
These Provider Directory enhancements make it easier to connect patients with the right care, faster—while supporting maternal health initiatives, improving access, and advancing health equity across the District.
